A nominal size does not define installation fit
A replacement can satisfy a nominal connection requirement yet still need changes to the installation. The critical comparison is between the installed geometry and the proposed dimensional drawing. Use the relevant YAMADA NDP data sheet and distinguish series variants rather than relying on an outline photograph.
Use one datum for every measurement
Choose a defined reference, such as the mounting plane and a marked centerline. Record inlet and outlet positions relative to that reference, together with mounting-hole locations and overall dimensions. Using different reference points for the old and new pump can create a false match.
Yamada publishes separate data sheets for series and variants, including NDP-50 and NDP-500 entries. The practical implication is to select the document for the proposed configuration, not just the nearest number in the catalog.
| Interface | Installed record | Proposed review |
|---|---|---|
| Mounting | Hole locations from one datum | Drawing comparison |
| Liquid ports | Centerlines and orientation | Adaptation required? |
| Air / exhaust | Connection position and access | Installation route |
| Service space | Available removal clearance | Maintenance feasibility |
Classify the differences
Mark each interface as unchanged, requiring a designed adaptation, or unresolved. A hose that can be forced into place is not evidence of acceptable alignment. Have the responsible installer or engineer review pipe loads, supports and any adaptor arrangement.
Also compare the service envelope. Space needed to remove a component can exceed the static outline of the pump. A replacement that fits on the base but cannot be maintained in position may change the maintenance plan.
Release a fit-gap sheet
Attach the old measurements, proposed drawing and an annotated list of differences. Assign each required change to an owner before ordering installation materials. Use dimensions and drawings for fit review; use the performance information for duty review. They answer different questions.
A completed fit-gap sheet should make the first installation predictable. It should not be presented as confirmation that components or service kits from the old NDP configuration fit the replacement.
