Record the liquid name, concentration, working temperature and viscosity. For mixtures, include the composition available to you. Note solids content, particle size and whether material settles during a pause. Keep the process fluid and cleaning fluid as separate entries.
Write down the flow needed at the required discharge pressure. Use the performance curve for the exact pump to check that combination and the associated air consumption. A catalog maximum flow is not a promise of that flow at every pressure. For viscous liquids, check the applicable correction guidance.
Describe the suction arrangement, pipe length, elevation and restrictions. Identify the compressed-air pressure and capacity available at the pump while it operates. Record both inlet and outlet connections, including their standard and nominal size. These details help explain why two similar pumps may perform differently in service.
Keep the brand, series, full ordering code, wetted materials and document revision together. Mark unresolved values for confirmation before ordering. If the application requires a specific approval or certificate, check the exact configuration and supporting documentation instead of relying on a general family description.
A pump body material is only one part of the selection. Review the complete wetted assembly and the conditions it will encounter throughout the process.
List the process liquid, its concentration and temperature range. Add cleaning agents, rinse fluids and any mixed or changing compositions. A resistance rating for a single chemical does not automatically establish suitability for a mixture or a different temperature.
Record the housing, manifolds, diaphragms, valve balls, valve seats and seals where those components apply. Diaphragms and valve balls do not necessarily need the same material: their movement, fit and response to swelling differ. Use the configuration record and parts list to identify the actual materials.
Use chemical-resistance information as a screening tool alongside the equipment specification and operating experience. Temperature, mechanical loading, abrasion and exposure time can change material performance. An absent rating means information is missing; it should not be treated as approval.
Keep a short record of the fluid conditions, proposed materials and open questions. Ask for confirmation tied to the full model code. Where sanitation or a defined site classification matters, request the relevant documentation for that exact assembly. Appearance and a material name alone cannot establish the required approval.
Start a maintenance request with equipment identification. A clear record of the pump and its configuration helps connect the right manual, parts diagram and replacement components.
Photograph the nameplate and copy the complete model or ordering code, part number and serial number when available. Include an overall equipment photo and any known configuration changes. A port size, brand name or similar-looking photograph is not enough to identify every replacement component.
Check the model coverage and revision of the installation or maintenance manual. Match the diagram reference, part number, material and quantity. Keep liquid-side service parts separate from air-system parts, and confirm the actual contents of any proposed repair kit.
Before opening the pump, have qualified personnel follow the applicable isolation, pressure-relief, draining and decontamination procedures in the equipment instructions. Diaphragm orientation, assembly order and tightening values can differ by model and material. Use the exact instructions rather than carrying values over from another pump.
Log the installed part numbers, service date, operating conditions and observed symptoms. Follow the specified checks before returning the equipment to service. If the same problem recurs, review the duty, air supply and material selection as well as the replaced component; avoid assuming that another identical repair resolves the underlying cause.
