Ceramics & mineral slurries
Plan for wear when solids are part of the process.
Ceramic slips, glazes and mineral suspensions can place sustained wear demands on wetted components. Settling and changes in solids concentration can also alter how material reaches the pump. Define the slurry at its working condition, including what happens after a production pause.
Typical media
- Ceramic slips
- Glazes
- Mineral suspensions
Process duties
- Transfer prepared slurries between vessels
- Feed process equipment within the required flow range
What to check
Review particle size, concentration, abrasion and viscosity together. Match valve construction and wetted materials to the actual slurry, then examine suction-line geometry and flushing arrangements. Include access for inspecting diaphragms, balls and seats in the installation plan.
Provide solids loading, largest particle size and the slurry’s operating viscosity.
