Beyond port size: a more useful way to compare pump offers
For industrial buyers, a comparable quotation needs more than a nominal diameter and a brand name. Make the configuration visible.
Two pump quotations can look similar while describing different configurations. A compact comparison sheet helps purchasing and engineering review the same information.
Start with a complete description
Place the manufacturer, full ordering code and quoted quantity at the top of each offer. List the wetted housing and internal material options separately. A family photograph is useful for orientation, but it should not be used to identify the exact configuration being supplied.
Check both fluid connections
Record the inlet and outlet independently, including the connection standard. This is especially useful when a nominal pump size does not describe every port. The WILDEN PS4 metal family, for example, has a published 1-1/2 inch liquid inlet and 1-1/4 inch liquid outlet in its standard threaded specification.
Separate technical fit from the commercial offer
First compare the required duty point and the proposed materials. Then compare price, delivery information and the scope of supply using the supplier’s actual quotation. Do not assume that a photograph includes every accessory or that a repair-kit image defines the exact kit contents.
Make open questions explicit
Leave a short field for anything still to be confirmed: diaphragm selection, connection details, available certificates or the document revision. A blank that is clearly marked for follow-up is more useful than an unsupported value.
